Camera System Type General Information
All-In-One Camera Systems All-in-one camera systems pack the camera, recorder, and batteries into a single enclosure. No need to fuss with wires or positioning multiple components. They are usually the lightest and most compact option, making filming very easy and convenient. The latest generation of these devices offers great quality for a very good value. The downsides of all-in-ones versus fully-integrated or individual component systems typically are shorter battery life, fewer features, reduced-video quality, and greater exposure of the whole system.
Fully-Integrated Systems Fully-integrated camera systems provide all the necessary components in a package optimized for performance, space savings, and low complexity. Typically, many components are integrated into a single enclosure, yet the camera and recorder unit will remain distinct pieces. The recorder unit will usually have a built-in color display, a solid state media slot, recording processor, and control buttons. Some systems require only a single cable, connecting the camera to the recorder. These systems can offer excellent quality and simplicity at a reasonable price. They provide a high degree of flexibility, have very usable battery life, and are simple to setup and use.
Stand-Alone Recorder Units Stand-alone recorders give you the flexibility to piece together a custom system for a specific application. Recorder units will have differing features and sometimes specialized functionality. A compatible camera, and possibly a microphone, will need to be purchased separately.
